New Ride-Hailing App Taxify to Launch in Egypt and Compete with Uber, Careem, and Ousta

Launching for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa, Estonian transport network Taxify is eyeing a slice of the Egyptian cake.

Estonian transport network Taxify announced on Tuesday that the company will start operating in Egypt next month, Daily News Egypt reported.

Founded in 2013 in Estonia, the company operates in 17 countries - including Estonia, Finland, South Africa, and Nigeria. Egypt will be the company's first operation in the Middle East and North Africa.

The company has talked about expanding in Europe, where it plans to give Uber a run for its money, but not before it does so here in Egypt. “Some might regard the private cars’ transportation market as fully-satisfied and [think] there’s no room for one extra company. For that matter, the company clarifies that the Egyptian market is a highly-consuming market and there’s room for plenty of investors to take part in the reforming process of the economic scene in Egypt,” says the company in a statement.
